About
We, three youngsters from Lithuania, will go to a small town Kilkis located in northern Greece, where we will be working in a Youth Information Center for three months. We will communicate with local people, organize various environmental friendly actions, and involve youth (and not only youth) of the town. Thus we will attract attention of society to ecological problems.
Doirani is a lake in neighborhood of Kilkis town. Not so far ago the lake was drying, because of irresponsible actions of people. That is why Doirani has become a central core of this project, and all the planned ideas and activities are concentrated to this central issue. Taking into account one concrete problem which refers all members of community, we can more easily reach out to each one of them and inform them about importance of protecting environment.
What we gonna do?
We will:
- create short-videos about volunteering and ecology
- export good practice examples from Lithuania
- prepare a list of organizations in Lithuania and Greece, through which youth can volunteer
- participate in Kerkini ecological festival and in work-camp near Doirani lake
- implement a case study of Doirani lake
- promote various international movements (critical mass, greendrinks, freecycle, fair-trade)
- organize environmental movies’ nights, kite and bicycles workshops, musical improvisations in parks, art actions in the town
- and… summer is long!
We kindly invite you to follow our activities and share your ideas and impressions!

“A human has forgotten that he is just a part of a complicated mechanism of nature. He doesn’t want to obey the rules that have been existing for millions of years and, as an immature teenager, he stands against all the hierarchy of nature, shouting out: “I do not belong to nature! Nature belongs to me!”. But how far can we go this way?”
”The ability to convert ideas to things is the secret to outward success.”

“Volunteering, society must be built on, not on basis of commercial relation – I sell, you buy. Also we have to dear to take responsibility for our effect on environment.”

“The biggest mistake is to do nothing and to think that behavior of one person doesn’t change anything. Doing voluntary service I feel a bigger meaning in what I do. Changing my consuming habits I become richer. Every action that I make has a result: a positive one – positive, a negative one – negative.”
“We start from little steps.”

“Hardly 50 years ago certain things seemed obvious…
The green, the light blue sky, the clean air….
Has something changed today perhaps? Is it perhaps what has changed our own life?
The voluntary effort does not belong to one! It belongs to all!”
Wish us luck and many adventures. We are waiting for your comments!
